Looking for a really high quality olive oil - any ideas?

I'm looking for a really lovely, strong tasting olive oil. I used to love the flavour of olive oil, and really notice it on pasta, in salad dressings etc. But either I have gone pickier or "It's not as good as it used to be". Grin

I've got a bit of money from selling some bits on eBay, and trying to eke it out to get some special treats. So I'm weighing up whether to splash out.

I'm also trying to eat more healthily and possibly go back to vegan, so hoping it will help me give up butter, which was my downfall last time. Blush

My sister has olive groves in Greece so we're spoilt with really decent stuff and I haven't bought olive oil for years.

I would go with something extra virgin, cold pressed from Kalamata. DPO is even better.

I love the idea of your own olive tree.

So far, we have tried a box of lemons and of oranges from https://www.crowdfarming.com/en and been very pleased with the experience.

We use loads of lemons so I'm planning to go for the tree version for lemons next time.

Sorry, meant to say there are several farms offering olive oil, Italian, Greek and Spanish.

Palestinian olive oil is the best!

I think Sainsbury’s see a fair trade organic one?

Google Gift of oil , they are fabulous. From memory 750ml is around £17 but it's worth every penny.
They also do fantastic balsamic in wonderful flavours.

Another tip is to buy it it a tin, sunlight destroys the quality in glass and plastic.

Great tips here. The olive tree sounds like a lovely idea, might ask for it as a birthday pressie.

Kalamata....
