My BIL is Swiss and he made raclette once when we were staying with him and my SIL. They invited all the neighbors over too because it's a group affair.

You cook the half-wheel of raclette cheese in a raclette maker. It cooks the top of the wheel and the host scrapes the melted part off and gives it to one guest, and you eat it with potatoes and various other things. Then it's the next person's turn. It's a really yummy, gooey cheese, and it was delicious. It's fun too, because it takes a while inbetween each of your turns, so there's lots of chatting, drinking (of course) and it takes a long time. I really enjoyed it.

thanks misdee!
The very thought is making me hungry now

roisin · 10/10/2004 13:47

If you people KEEP ON introducing me to sites where I can spend more money, my dh will ban me from mn

We do have a raclette, but have always 'made do' with other cheeses, as we can't get raclette cheese - obviously not sufficiently cosmopolitan here!

Hmmm... I feel plans for a party coming on. Shall I buy a quarter or a half raclette?!!

misdee · 10/10/2004 13:51

buy a whole one and see if you can freeze it.

pupuce · 10/10/2004 15:25
