Just slow-cooked some belly pork bought from a farm this afternoon, apples, sage, lovely. DH looked at it and said "should it still have the hairs on?" .
So, can we eat pork that has been cooked with the hairs on the skin even if we don't eat the skin? I know how daft this sounds but it's egg and chips otherwise and it smells LOVELY. Dcs have eaten so it's just for us.

Of course you can

foxinsocks · 15/09/2007 19:58

I'd eat it

Thanks! I have to admit I've never seen a headline "woman dies from eating pork with hairs on"

Don't get what difference the hairs would make if you are not eating the skin. And how would you remove them - pluck them? I hope you have enjoyed it, it sounds lovely. Any chance of the recipe?

Eat it deffo.

ELR · 15/09/2007 20:17

just leave the hairs

brandnewhelsy · 15/09/2007 20:17

Because I chucked everything else in with it so thought if there was something wrong with the hairs it would be in everything, IYSWIM. Oh I feel so daft now. According to my dad who was brought up on a farm, you scour the skin to get the hairs off.
About to eat it now - its been on for ages. If it's nice I'll give you the recipe

Well if it smells lovely that is a good start. See what you mean about the scouring, but I am sure it will be fine.

Starbear · 15/09/2007 20:43

With chicken with same feather still attached you would singe them then scour I thought. Maybe you do the same with pork?

BBBee · 15/09/2007 20:47

eat!
