Quick baking help

I’m making chocolate chip cookies and recipe calls for plain flour and 2 tsps of baking powder.
Tesco substitutes my plain flour for home pride superior sponge flour.
Is this self raising? And if so can I still use it? Would I use less baking powder?

Thank you!

Looking on the Homepride website, the ingredients don't list any raising agents whereas the list for SR flour does. I'd say it's plain so use as normal.

SoupDragon · 24/04/2020 09:42

Noooo! It's SR! I misread the ingredients.

Eminybob · 24/04/2020 09:43

The ingredients on the pack say raising agents. But it doesn’t say self raising anywhere on it Confused

I might add a teaspoon of baking powder but I'd be tempted to use none.

As it has the raising agents (the website is formatted badly which is why I missed it) it is SR.

brill thank you.

Nooo don't use any additional raising agent!

KittenVsBox · 24/04/2020 09:45

It will be SR.
If the recipie has more than 150g flour, dont add any more baking powder.
If you have less flour than that, you might like to add a bit more, but for biscuits, I doubt it.

SoupDragon · 24/04/2020 09:46

Thinking about it, I wouldnt add any baking powder actually.

Eminybob · 24/04/2020 10:53

Thanks all. I didn’t add any baking powder and they are cooling now so I’ll let you know.
Why doesn’t the packet say SR on it anywhere? not very handy for novices like me.
But this is the first packet of flour I’ve been able to buy since lockdown and beggars can’t be choosers. Grin
