I wrap mine in foil and cook for approx 15/20 mins.
Then take it off and put butter on it.
mmmmmm

I agree, wrap in foil and cook slowly if poss.

aDad · 15/09/2007 12:53

I dont use foil. Just brush with oil or butter and turn it quite quickly. Wont take long.

aDad · 15/09/2007 12:55

Some people soak it in water while it's still in its husk and then onto barbie.

We just stick it straight on the BBQ. We do it after everything else has cooked, so it's starting to cool at little. Tastes bloody lovely with butter. If you can get the cobs with the leaves still on, you can stick it straight on and the corn won't blacken, but tbh it tastes fab when it's done that too.

NappiesGalore · 15/09/2007 13:25

adad - the first method you said - thats not w it precooked at all?

and adad and serenity - when you o it with the leaves on, is it a pain to get all the stringy bits off when its hot?

The leaves cool down really quickly (plus I have asbestos fingers ) so they aren't difficult to take off. I don't recall the silky bits being hard to get off, but tbh it's been a while since MIL got ones with leaves so can't remember exactly. To answer the other question, we don't precook before it goes on the BBQ. I don't know if it makes any difference, but I should say that we cook over coals not gas (sacriledge!)

aDad · 16/09/2007 10:48

yes no precooking required

I just sling it straight on, no butter or anything. I always put it at the edge (of a gas barbecue) where it's not so hot so that it has more time to cook through before it starts to blacken.

thanks peeps.

i di the foil w/out leaves and no butter on a gas bbq thing and they turned out alright.

think i will try on the edge, with butter brushing next time... the foil seemed to hold in steam to cook them more evenly so may keep that idea...

i love corn otc. can you tell??

thank you all kindly for your advice
