Any cake ideas for a child who is allergic to eggs, dairy and soya?

I'm hosting a birthday party for my dd and one of the children coming is allergic to pretty much EVERYTHING. Any ideas for how to make a cake for him so that he doesn't miss out on it?

Is eggs, dairy and soya the full list? Or is there more?

There are lots of vegan cake recipes out there, some of which don't use soya.

I like this recipe, but you'd have to substitute out the eggs, with either egg substitute (health food store has it), or with freshly ground linseed mixed with water.

rice krispy squares can be made to not contain any of those - not the healthiest choice in the world though!

The banana bread sounds good, thanks kerrymum, wheat is fine I think.

There is more to that list NQC, everytime he's been to our house he's had a reaction to something . Am determined to make some form of cake he can eat (it will be normal cake for all the others though). When I tried with egg substitute before I was quite surprised to see that it was made with dried milk, but this was about 10 years ago so maybe things have changed since then. I'll have to venture to the health food mecca in High St Kensington...

Good call with the rice krispie squares as well

I'd consider asking his Mum to be honest. She might have a tried and tested recipe, or suggest a shop bought version she knows is ok. Would set your mind at rest - and probably hers too. You might go to a lot of trouble then find he doesn't like it otherwise. And well done for being so considerate.

As the parent of an allergic child I would like to say thank you for being so considerate! I always have to take my own cake whenever DD1 goes to parties, Your dd's friend will be so pleased that you've thought of her.

This chocolate cake, as with all vegan cakes isn't perfect, but will taste nice, and holds together well for icing. Just make sure you line and grease the tin well.

Ingredients
3/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour
1 3/4 cup self raising flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon bicarb
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup plain soymilk or rice milk
1/2 cup sunflower or grapeseed oil
1 1/2 cups pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 F. Spray a 9 inch springform pan with non stick cooking spray or oil. Line well.

Sift together flours and baking powder and bicarb

In a saucepan, heat the milk on low-medium heat. When it is slightly bubbling, add the cocoa powder and whisk well until it is dissolved. Remove from heat.

Combine the other liquid ingredients in a bowl and whisk well. Add the cocoa mixture and combine. Add the wet ingredients to the dry.

Pour batter into prepared pan, bake at 350 F for 25 minutes until a knife comes out clean. Let cool completely and frost with your favorite frosting.

lilolil - I can guarantee she's never made a cake for her ds, so no tried and tested recipes. She tends to stick to plain crisps and candy sticks for sweet treats.

I've got enough time to try out these recipes on both dd and her ds before the big day, thanks for your input.
