What’s your child’s/teens favourite meal? Need ideas for fussy eater

Looking for inspiration. Dd1 is a very fussy eater with lots of sensory issues around food, I’m really struggling as she’s gaining weight which effects a medical condition she has, she’s a teenager and stubborn but I have managed to add a couple vegetables to her diet after many years of her refusing to even try anything. Her diet mainly consists of bread and cheese, nothing in a sauce, mainly dry carbs, she doesn’t like meat, doesn’t like veg so it’s pretty tricky. I have got to the point where I’m just going to cook her things a and hope she tries it (and not offer a alternative). So I’m looking for ideas of what I can’t try that’s not going to cause a huge meltdown, so nothing with too many flavours and nothing that takes a lot of chewing.

So what’s your kids favourite meals?

Could you get her to read this guide and see if there is anything she is willing to try?

Sweet corn is a no no (tried it, hated it), pesto is also a no as it’s green 😂, though I could try red pesto.

Toad in the hole is a good idea.

Tonight’s she had a sausage in a roll and it took her over an hour to eat it. She’s waiting for surgery to fix her overbite which is causing issues with chewing.

if she eats things in bread crumbs would she eat roasted cauliflower in breadcrumbs.
or fish fingers
i think cooking with her might really help.and you know you said you nearly cried.let her see your happines and pride for her as im sure most of the time she sees fustration?(not your fault its just often the way we never let them see how proud we are when tough times keep rolling)
roated veg i was going to mention.and for wedges mix in some sweet potato.

would she like chickpeas.you can do loads with them and they are firmer than rice.or some of the other grain lik pearl barley or wheat which arent as as slippery as rice.
what textures is she finding hard?
could you ask her if you could turn her favorites pizza idea into a different meal.so in pasta she could have the tom and cheese pasta bake.
could you make some veggie bakes that are similar make up to the fish cakes.
i mjust trying to think of the tastes and forms she does eat then working them into other meals.

its also pancake day this month.what about making some of those with her and try different fillings.you can do sweet and savory.and then with the batter you could then delve into toad in the whole?if she likes it as its the same batter and with sausages which she likes.

If fish pie or fish cakes might be an option, try to blend some cauliflower in with the mashed potatoes.
If texture rather than taste with mac cheese, I once made a fab cauliflower cheese soup, could maybe try it with pasta?
Is there a particular taste or texture that seems to be preferable?

Cauliflower cheese soup sounds like a good idea, she did say she would try soup.

She seems to like crunchy food (crisps, pizza, crispy chips) but dislikes really wet food or anything that needs too much chewing due to her over bite. I’m really hoping that after she has surgery she will be able to eat a bit faster and chew things like meat.

She’s not too keen on pancakes. She usually has one or 2 and then I have to eat the rest 😂😂

If she likes crunchy food, maybe you could try baked vegetable crisps to introduce new vegetables to her diet? Beetroot, celeriac, kale, cabbage (like Chinese crispy seaweed), carrot, parsnip, sweet potatoes, Jerusalem artichokes etc. If she enjoys the flavour, then you could try the same vegetables cooked in different ways. Would freeze dried fruit and veg be an ok texture for her?
