Baking biscuits, cakes etc is not one of my strong points, can anyone recommend a nice book to inspire me?

I really like Easy Peasy although it's aimed at older children. Dorling Kindersley do good kids' cookbooks with lots of bit pictures of all the ingredients.

How was Woolley Grange BTW?

My mum gave ds an Australian Women's Weekly cookbook called 'Get real! Make a meal', which is kids cooking step by step (or so it says on the cover ). It's actually very good: lots of pictures, straightforward recipies and easy to understand and follow. Not totally baking but it does have a fair number of cake and biscuit recipies.

Oooh, that looks good Tamum, thanks!

We had a mixed experience at Woolley Grange, its a lovely place, good food (enjoyed our dinners in the restaurant).

Unfortunately, we had problems with the accommodation. It transpired that our suite (a new one they've added in the last year) was right next door to the boiler room and, being a hot weekend anyway, it was pretty miserable in there.

I have to say, when we complained, the manager did her best to placate us. We were given 50% off the bill, and a complimentary night if we want to return. I think that was very fair of them, and we will return at a cooler time of year!

Have just had a look at their website and couldn't find the book I've got, but this one here might be something similar.
I don't know where mum got the book but as she hadn't been to Australia and isn't computer savvy enough to order things on-line, the books must be on sale somewhere in this country.

Sorry twogorgeousboys, went to bed and missed your reply! What a pain about the boiler, that must have really spoilt it for you. Quite a good response from them though by the sounds of it. Go for John Baskerville next time!

I've been putting one of my own together. I often use the be-ro recipe book which has a childrens section at the back or two books I got as a child (think they are usborne ones) called party things and sweet things.
