Slow cooker question

Alicia870 · 19/01/2020 18:42

I just bought a slow cooker today. I'm starting work so early in the morning and wanted a meal to come into tomorro evening. Given that it's the first time I've used it I thought I'll actually just cook a curry in it today and pop it in the fridge tonight and serve up tomorro evening.

Does anyone else do this? When I come in tomorrow can I put the dish back in the slow cooker and put it on the warm or high function to heat up again? Is there any reason why this wouldn't be ok? Thanks!

When you say cook a curry in it today, it'll likely be 4-8 hours.
Reheating in slow cooker would take a long time.
Personally I'd prep it all tonight, leave in fridge overnight then pop in slow cooker on low all day tomorrow while out.

You could but it actually takes quite a long time for it to get everything properly hot (what with it being a slow cooker)

I'd bung everything in the pot tonight and it on before you go to work. FWIW I never bother with the browning most recipes call for

@Mummymummums I put it on about 3pm and planned to put it in fridge when I go to bed around 10.39 so it will have had 7 plus hours then.
Thanks for the advice- I should probably do that in future! I'll just heat it up on the stove top tomorrow instead

Yes heat up on stove top tomorrow probably best. I love mine, I put porridge in it too ready for morning sometimes.

Oh gosh I think it's my new favourite thing- cooking the curry was so easy and it smells divine already- I'm buzzing Smile
