Hi all, I made some lovely bread sauce on Christmas Day. Am making turkey dinner tomorrow and still have loads of bread sauce left. It's been in the fridge - but is a week just too long? or has anyone eaten it after that amount of time and lived to tell the tale?? It smells ok.

Yummy. I would. Microwave it, stir in some cream. Job's a good 'un. You've got me craving bread sauce now !

I make home made bread sauce every year. I had some cold the next day with the rest of the scrumptious left overs.

I put the rest in the Christmas Soup i.e. chuck all the gammon, chicken, veg, stuffing and bread sauce etc in a pan with stock. Simmer and let the magic happen.

No way

Pilot12 · 31/12/2019 16:04

No way, I'm surprised it doesn't smell/have mold growing on it if you made it with milk or cream.

RockysMa · 31/12/2019 16:12

Made it with milk and butter, no cream. Just had a taste and seems ok but doubting myself now, don't want to make my guests ill. A new batch it is. Thanks all

Ew, no! And I'm normally very relaxed about these things.

RockysMa · 31/12/2019 16:16

It's been in an airtight tupperware box maybe that's why it's still looking/smelling ok?

Get it et

alexdgr8 · 31/12/2019 20:10

no.
and def not reheat and add cream.... that sounds well dodgy.... esp if serving it to others, esp children or older people.
why risk it.
some people can become really ill. I mean really ill.
never take a risk with someone else's life. or even your own. why would you. the cost benefit analysis doesn't stack up. does it.
happy new year.

@alexdgr8 I don't think old bread sauce has ever cost anyone their life afaik? ... but anyway you can call the dogs off as Ive made a new batch so our lives are safe. Happy new year all Grin
