Steaming Christmas pud in slow cooker

I've got a just-under-500g Christmas pud (shop bought). Do you think I could steam it in the slow cooker? Any tips? I'm trying to plan to make sure I have enough pots and pans available to cook everything else! 😆

I made my own Christmas puds, all cooked in the slow cooker.
I also plan to put one in the sc on Christmas morning until we are ready to have it.

So, pierce film lid, boiling water to 3/4 way up the side, on high for 2 hrs or so - should about right? Thanks.

I always steam mine in the slow cooker on Christmas Day, for just that reason - it frees up space on the hob. I put the slow cooker in the utility room so it's right out of the way. My slow cooker is not far off 40 years old. I believe modern ones operate at a higher temperature so it would probably need less time. I put mine on first thing in the morning and don't bother with it again until it's time for the pudding hours and hours later. So easy, no risk of it boiling dry, and excellent results.

Christmas puddings work incredibly well in the microwave if you have one.

I make mine in the slow cooker and heat it up on the day each year. Put it in the pot and add hot water to almost the top - mine has a foil cover and the water goes up to just below the foil - and then I cook it on low for four hours.
