Hi, I bought baby powdered porridge oats and they can just be mixed into warm milk/liquid without being cooked. so the question is, can I just powder my own oats in the blender and then mix it into liquid without cooking, or do oats need to be cooked please?

Hmm, not sure! Museli seems to contain lots of 'raw' oats so I'm sure they must be edible.

I've made baby porridge from ordinary oats & milk/water - just boiled for a couple minutes I think.

It depends what oats you buy. If you buy normal porridge oats then they need to be cooked in a saucepan with milk. If you buy ready oat cereal, I use Asdas own) then they can just be mixed with warm milk.

Thankyou for the responses.....I went to my local health food shop the other day and found about two hundred (ok...a slight exageration!!) different types of ground, powdered, whole, flattened oats.....jusy enough to really muddle me! Anyway, next question...what is the difference between porridge oats and not porridge oats??
