Not much time but bucket loads of plums-can i stew and then freeze ?

Ok so got rid of millions of saved jars as realised i was never going to get time to make jam or chutney-and that my fruit trees would never produce enough !

This year my plum tree has delivered bucket loads - typical

Without jars i cant make jam or chutney.
My freezer is quite small so i cant really halve them and freeze flat as it would take up too much room.
Can i just simmer the whole lot, skin and all with a bit of water and sugar-then freeze in useable size bags for plum stew and custard, or for making pies ?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated as i dont want to waste them.
Cheers x

yes guess you can and think you will be able to make jam with them after defrosting. I would not add sugar or extra water, think the water that they have been rinsed in should be enough if simmer on v. low heat. I would half and stone first if you have time now as will save room in your freezer

Yes, cook them as if you are making a base for crumble, etc and then freeze.

My tree has loads on too but we were away last week and it looks like lots of them ripened and split open while we were away. Wasps and other bugs have got into them or they have fallen down so not many left to eat or cook with...

I simmered mine whole with a glass of red wine and then put through the colander, bashing with a spoon, which got rid of the stones

had a BIIIG glass of the juice as it was all runny

froze the rest
