Warm, portable, spoon free snacks

Since the weather has definitely turned, I’d like to be able to take warm things in a flask or similar.
I’m looking for smallish, dryish snacks, like Sandwiches, not like soup or pasta (I have the messiest three yo in existence).
I suppose toasted sandwiches might be ok actually.
I’ve experimented with savoury muffins before which I know they eat at nursery, but were rejected out of hand.
As always, Many thanks in advance.

Risotto or vege patties? Meatballs?

TyneTeas · 10/11/2019 10:48

Samosas?

Slices of garlic bread?

TyneTeas · 10/11/2019 10:48

Mini quiches?

Frittata (can do in the frying pan or in muffin tin to make small individual versions).

Vegetable fritters with a dip (yoghurt etc).

Ah thanks, some good ideas here, of course things like little pasties would work.

I used to buy the mini things at the supermarket deli counter like samosas, spring rolls, mini quiches and freeze them. Then just before going out defrost and heat in microwave

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/11/2019 16:08

What do you keep the samosas etc warm in? How long are you expecting them to stay warm?

Girlwhowearsglasses · 10/11/2019 16:24

Scotch eggs and sausage rolls.
Pasties
Empanadas (South American pasties )
Quesadilla (Mexican grilled cheese wraps)
Spanakopita (Greek spinach and cheese filo pies )
Vol au vents

Theres a theme but it’s a good one :-)

Little cheese scones are lovely and really easy to make.

Coldhandscoldheart · 10/11/2019 18:42

I’d be wrapping & plonking in a warmed thermos I should think. Not for long really, we often take snack time to the park & one child really really feels the cold.

It sounds like a most excellent idea!

We've cooked sausage rolls before, wrapped in foil and then eaten during a walk in the park.

AdaColeman · 10/11/2019 20:21

Falafels
Mini hot dogs in bridge rolls
Sausages
Cheese toasties
Spring rolls

Or buy some chios!

AdaColeman · 10/11/2019 20:21

CHIPS!

Blondie1984 · 11/11/2019 03:09

Bread pudding
Individual malt loaves
Homemade cereal bars / porridge squares

Yoollyball · 11/11/2019 04:03

Would a flask of hot chololate be easier?

Coldhandscoldheart · 11/11/2019 07:39

We do take hot chocolate, but really it’s to mix things up a bit & get a bit of savoury /veg in. Chips is a great idea, but unfortunately no chip shop near.

Heinz tomato soup, to be drunk from a small cup- no spoon required.

Greedytiger · 11/11/2019 18:25

Pinwheels made from puff pastry are always a winner with my DS. Either cheese and tomato or sometimes I purée up some veg to spread in there.
