New Year's Eve party food advice?

Long-time lurker, first-time poster here looking for tips and advice. DH keen to have an NYE party this year, around 25-35 friends and neighbours. Usual nibbles of breadsticks, crisps, olives samosas etc. DH suggested we do curry "on the go" so to speak- a chicken curry and a chickpea curry for the vegetarians, both served with rice. It won't be problem keeping the curries warm as have chaffing dishes I can borrow from family.

Do you think this would work or should i just keep it to usual party finger food? Will do mini desserts for afters. First time hosting this many so I'm feeling a little confused. Any tips and advice will be much appreciated!

I think it’s a brilliant idea, and stops folk getting too pissed too quickly. I’d throw some jacket potatoes in the oven too maybe?

Great plan! I would love it as I hate cold food apart from cheese and biscuits
I am vegetarian and gluten free so your curry and rice would be fantastic.
You could do some flatbreads and naans, chutneys etc too.

If you can keep it warm and have all of the kitchen stuff already to make a big batch then it sounds like a great idea. I wouldnt go out of my way to buy new bits for it though (except obviously the food!).

My friend does a NYE party every year for similar numbers... She has moved more & more away from nibbles to a chilli, chicken curry, vegi curry, rice and then jacket potatoes and a lasagna in the oven. Pizza for young kids. It's all on hob or in oven with limited nibbles to side.
A friend makes the lasagna, another the chilli.
She finds it works out great

Curry is great for this kind of party, as long as you make sure all the bits inside it are bite-sized so people just need to stand up with a spoon.

Sounds great but do the extras, onion Bhaji, samosas, popadoms, naan, mango chutney etc so plenty of nibbles to keep you going beyond midnight
