Easy bonfire buffet ideas

Hi! I have volunteered to hold a bonfire buffet night this Saturday just for a couple of hours before we all head to local fireworks display..
I unfortunately am working in the morning/ early afternoon so am only going to have about 1.5 hours to put everything together :o :o

So if anyone fancies listing easy stuff that would be lovely and super helpful! Also if anyone recommends particularly supermarkets for party foods/canapés ?
Also, if this was for me I’d have a lot more veggie stuff/nice salads but the people coming love their meat haha. Also my list seems a bit random.. just trying to get a nice mix

This is my list so far:
Mini toad in the hole made from scratch, hopefully won’t take too long
Gravy for above
Pigs in blankets ,bought
Mini sausage rolls, bought
Mini pitta bread with hummus chickpeas and feta
Roast potatoes and sweet roast potatoes, made from scratch
Crisps
Mini sweet pastries? Tesco used to do lovely frozen ones you pop in oven, but have stopped, if anyone has any recommendations?
I have promised s’mores but actually don’t know how I’m going to do them as we don’t have a bbq... I have a tiny fondue set so could use that.. so buying big marshmallows for that
Fresh Fruit kebabs?
Someone is bringing a bonfire cake so I shouldn’t have to worry about sweet stuff :)

I don't think you need so many items. Make it easier for yourself!

A load of baked potatoes - easier than roast, and no washing up!
Bowls of grated cheese, chopped red onion
Load of sausages (or pigs in blankets if you prefer)
Veggie sausages if any vegetarians
Bowl of coleslaw and bowl of salad
Chocolate brownies, ice cream, marshmallows, chocolate sauce

I think you may have gone a bit overboard on the sausages!
Last year I served/shredded ham hock with baked potatoes, warm bread rolls, grated cheese, apple slaw, tomato chutney, caramelised onions and a green salad.
This year I’m doing Cornish pasties.

Waaaay too complicated OP!!

As others have said, do a load of jacket potatoes/big pot of rice and serve with chilli or sausage and lentil stew or beans & cheese (all of which can be pre prepped) and a big salad.

Otherwise traditional bonfire food round here would be sausages in buns, pasty and peas, tomato soup, Lancashire hotpot, corned beef hash, macaroni cheese (not all at once obviously but they're all easy to eat with hands or just a fork/spoon).

Enjoy!

Too much faff. Chilli in the slow cooker, jacket potatoes, a tray of sausages for anyone who doesn't like spicy food. Job done!

Way too complicated ... baked potatoes (take 1.5 hours, scrub before work) veggie chilli (vegan, gluten free), sausages (meat, Linda McCartney vegan). For dessert asda have a 60 piece mini dessert platter, cheap and cheerful, defrost over 6 hours

Agree with everyone else, keep it simple especially as you don’t have much time. So rather than sausages in three different forms, I’d just pick one. Or even just normal plain sausages. Again like everyone else I think baked potatoes are easier than roast. But easier still is hot dog buns if you’re serving sausages.

Although I agree with you re veg and salad I don’t think that’s the kind of food most people fancy for a bonfire night buffet. What I have served with success before is mugs of a veggie soup (I made a spicy butternut squash one). Also if you go down the hot dog route, maybe do sweet potato fries.

And for the s’mores, I’d go a traybake version. Lots of ideas if you google. Again easier to make and should hit the spot.

Thanks so much for all these points!! Will scrap the pitta breads !! And I actually have never really baked potatoes as partner hates them 😆 so roasts feel more comfortable for me! But I guess baking potatoes can’t be too hard!

Again the many variations of sausages are because partner loves them 😆 but today bought pigs in blankets and sausage rolls (plus veggie ones) from Aldi so hopefully can just pop those in oven!

Good point about people not expecting fresh salads etc.. what do people think about just hummus and carrot /cucumber sticks? Maybe instead of the mini pitas! Also realised today some of the kids who are coming only eat pizza... so got that to add 😆

Thanks for all the helpful points!!
