saw an 'eating healthily' thing on TV recently, and someone was poaching eggs in microwave. Tried it myself, by following microwave instructions, ended up with inedible watery eggy mess. Anyone know how to do it?!

YG - how long should you put it in for? They were doing it in a mug?

You can buy a little plastic thing in Lakeland just for poaching eggs in the microwave.

Have a look at this

I put a little water in with the egg, and cover the bowl. I put it on for about 30secs at a time, and keep taking it out to check it - they cook incredibly quickly. Dont put in too much water though, just a little to keep it from exploding all over the microwave (which I have done a few times!!).

Oh, and I dont skewer the yoke - I think it ruins a good poached egg! But you do have to keep an eye on it. Mmmmmmm - fancy a poached egg on a roll right now!

dont want to be a sour puss but i'd say don't. my friend did and ended up in A&E when she took the egg out of the microwave and it exploded - boiling water and egg all over her face. she went to hopsital with her head over a washing up bowl full of water, with her skin coming off. sorry! just couldnt bear that to happen to you if i hadn't said anything. she was very very burned, but has healed really well and you can't really tell. but pleease....... dont know what the lakeland poacher is like, but i am sure that if it is made for poaching then that's fine. just dont do it in a cup of water!
