Pud/dessert for eight to ten people?

gerbo · 10/10/2019 19:01

I'm having between 8 and 10 friends from work round soon for food. We're eating curry.

What would you do for pud? I was thinking maybe small portions of lemon posset? Something refreshing? Or just a box of chocs and coffee as I'll be shattered from hosting and full of curry?!

Any ideas?

Excellent quality vanilla icecream and various berries? With a chocolate sauce for people to add if they like.

I was going to say ice cream too. You could make a nice sauce for it eg chocolate, salted caramel

Lemon posset every time. My favourite dessert.

I do a lemon flan that MIL gave me the recipe for. It is just as nice with lime.

Blitz up biscuits (chocolate or digestive or ginger), add melted butter, and press into a flan tin.

Mix up a big tin of condensed milk with the same amount of double cream, then add lemon or lime zest and juice - (about 2 big lemons or three limes, but you might need more). Whisk until it thickens, and pour onto the chilled biscuit base. If you want to be fancy, you can pipe whipped cream rosettes on top, but I don’t usually bother. I have once made candied zest in syrup and spooned that over.

The Philadelphia website has some great and easy to do desserts that don't need any baking. There is a write chocolate Forest gateau thing I did for Christmas with in-laws once. Was amazing, a bit different but really easy. It's rich so people only need a small piece to. But they have lots of yummy ideas

I think chocs and coffee would be fine. Pavlova is easy too. Best to keep it simple and enjoy the evening.

Thanks all for your ideas! I'm thinking green and blacks vanilla ice cream, served with chopped mango and raspberries. If I have time perhaps I'll make a batch of homemade mini meringues.
