my 16 month old dd has for some time, been 'off' her food, she used to have such a big appetite before she was about12month, but now just eats bits of things i give her. all she wants at the minute is chunks of cheese, bananas, yogurt and of course chocolate and crisps(my sister in laws fault!)..oh and mini chedders?!which i dont want her filling up on. i even got animal pastry cutters so her sandwhiches where in the shape of ducks and dogs etc, but she's just not interested after a mouthful or two?any ideas?

Fell for you Evesmama! She sounds like my DS1 - he went off his food at about the same age and lived a whole year on "buffet" food. Sad to say, he still prefers it although he will now eat veggie sausages, various potato products and peas. He doesn't seem to like food that needs to be eaten with a fork or spoon (with a sauce, gravy etc). It also seems to be quite common among his friends. He's 2y8m now. Not very helpful to you I'm afraid but just to let you know you're not alone!

thanks tommy, she's like that with picky food and they only dressing shell touch is tomatoe sauce!!!, force fed her yorshire pud tonight but had to scrape gravy off and dip in the bloody stuff!!lol. funny arn't they, i just want to make sure when she does eat, its not rubbish and find out ways of making sure she gets all her food groups. people say give her the same as us, but we are a terrible example (me & dp sat scoffing a 400g toblerone as we speak!)dont want her thinking burgers and chicken nuggets are a staple diet!what are we to do?

DS does eat the same as us at the weekend when we all have bread and cheese! I stopped worrying about that and figured it was better to get a variety of vaguely healthy stuff inside him than the social side of it! I'm assuming he'll eventually grow out of it but basically just give him a selection of bread, cheese, crackers, breadsticks, hummous (don't know why he likes that but he does)some raw veg on occasions, fruit etc and try something new on his plate every few days.
The problem I'm having now is trying to stop DS2 just wanting what his big brother eats!

yeah thats more or less what dd eats (except hummous?) but worried about lack of protien - meat n stuff. am i just a worry wart? i never feel im doing the right thing by her.

We don't eat meat so he gets all his protein from hummous, veggie sausages and cheese. Have you tried chunks of meat - like chicken or ham? (says she - who am I to give advice on toddlers' eating habits?!

well she did eat the chicken and ham from some lunchables i bought her to pack for trip to centerparcs last week, but sice read that they are evil and should only give 'unproccesed' meat and cheese?

Yoghurt - HELP? Hello All - My baby is nearly seven months and I give him Yoplait, Petit Filous yoghurts. I'm concerned the sugar content may be high. Can anyone recommend a healthy option yoghurt because he loves them?

Flumpette, Mums4 Yogurts are sugar-free but your little man might turn up his nose after the Petits Filous! Yeo Valley Organic Fromage Frais are definitely less sweet than PF and might be a good compromise (bigger portions too for young yogurt fanciers).
Rachel's Dairy do delicious Greek yogurt which you could also mix with fruit puree/mashed banana. It's more economical too.

Thank you - Great advice - are these available at the main supermarkets ie. Tesco etc. Will look out for them. Will let you know how I get on. x
