Will a normal cake recipe work for a silicone number mould?

Oh dear this is my second cake thread. I just wondered if anybody knew if I could use eg a standard choc fudge cake recipe in a silicone mould or if I should use a sold Madeira recipe instead? Cheers for any advice!

I'm no expert but I made a normal sponge for my sons 3rd birthday in a 3 mould and it was fine. I sprayed it with frylight just in case lol

any recipe should be fine in a silicone mould, personally though I don't like them I think the metal in tins conducts the heat much better and the cake cooks more evenly and is a moister cake

I think in silicone "tins" the cake is always dryer as the heat takes longer to penetrate, and also they seem to have a sweaty greasy edge which normal tins don't give.

Having said that you could make sure the mould goes onto a hot tray which may help.

Thanks both! That's positive. I know exactly what you mean by the greasy sides though @MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours Grin
