self-raising flour alternative in the US

Help need to make a cake and am crap in kitchen. looking at my recipe I need self -raising flour - but can't find anything like it over here...what do I use instead?

looking at a few recipies on the net it looks as though they use plain (all purpose flour) and baking powder/soda instead. The proportions you need should be on the outside of the baking powder box. If you are confused i'd look on the net for an American recipie

think fairy cakes are called cup cakes over there...

SR flour in the US is called cake flour. Alternatively, you can add baking powder to all purpose.
