Birthday cake - help no oven!

Oven has given up the ghost and, with only limited time to organise a replacement involving a probable wiring upgrade, not likely to be resolved soon. What is the best alternative method for baking a cake for dd's birthday please? I have :-
Breadmaker
Slowcooker
Pressure king pro
Halogen cooker
Microwave

Either do a no bake cheesecake or an ice cream cake

Suggested a no-bake or fridge cake but did not go down well. It is her 18th, so no pressure!

Those are good ideas but in the circumstances can't you just buy one?

I don't have any experience of making them I was just so curious as to whether or not you can bake a cake without an oven I had to Google's

You can microwave sponge - it looks very anaemic so chocolate works slightly better. Slow cooker also a possibility.

What's she got against cheesecake? Or indeed shop bought cake?

Mum used to regularly make cakes in microwave. As mentioned by pp it comes out a bit pale- but presumably you’re going to ice it anyway?
Not sure what you’d cook it in? Maybe Tupperware or similar? Easy enough to shape once cooked by taking slivers off sides?

I went to a party where the cake was a huge square fridge cake (the sort of thing with crushed biscuits, raisins, cherries etc held together with butter, syrup and chocolate). It was iced just like a sponge cake with rolled out fondant icing, icing flowers etc. Looked and tasted very good.

But if she's not keen on a fridge cake I think your only option is to buy one, microwaved cake doesn't taste that nice. I'm sure at 18, she will realise that you can't come up with a beautiful, home-based masterpiece if you haven't got access to an oven.

Just buy one from any supermarket?!

Could you buy some cake sponge bases? If so mix some whipped cream with nutella and/or strawberries and layer the cake then finish off with whipped cream on top. Where i am from this is a traditional birthday cake.

Thank you, Microwave looks most hopeful. Can add loads of icing to disguise of needs be! Got a week or so to plan ahead, maybe we can beg a friend yet! Bought a cake for her 16th so she fancies homemade this time.

Why would she really want a cake you bake if she knows this?

Microwave cakes are a bit rubbery. A no cook biscuit chocolate marshmallow delight is the way to go

She may fancy homemade but at 18 she's also old enough to understand why that might not be possible. FFS... she's not a baby. Let her have a homemade cake when you have an oven. (Unless a friend would let you bake at theirs).

Of course she understands, just exploring possibilities. We've often been on holiday for her birthday so a homemade cake is a bit of a treat.
