What can I use instead of butter?

Hi, this is probably a stupid question but can I use a lower fat alternative in a "healthy" seeded flapjack recipe?

I’ve made flapjacks when dd was weaning with mashed ripe banana instead of butter & reduced the sugar accordingly. They’re not that great though tbh, and it’s the sugar rather than the fat that is the unhealthy part. Good organic butter is actually quite good for you.

I’d be more worried about the sugar in a flapjack than the butter. What are you using for sweetness?

Honey. No added sugar

Honey is sugar...

Honey counts as an added sugar - the only things that don’t are whole fruit and dairy
You're much better off just using the “normal” ingredients and having it in moderation than going for some quasi healthy version

you can substitute apple sauce for oil in baking.
so find a flapjack recipe with oil vs butter and sub to apple sauce.
honey vs sugar alters the liquid to dry content and can take a bit of trial and error to work out values in a recipe.

I’d just use proper butter etc and eat less of it.

No added sugar flapjack would be oats with fat.
