Urgent - any americans living here that can help me with graham cracker substitute?

I am making a recipe from an american children's cookbook tomorow (indoor smores) that needs graham crackers. I used to live in the US so know what they are, but I can't think of a good substitute. The only thing I came up with is digestive biscuits as they have the right texture, but they certainly do not have the right taste. I tried my local supermarket as it has a section of american stuff, but they did not have them. I may try selfridges food hall tomorow just in case, but I am not holding out hope. What can I use as an alternative?

Almost all anglo-american cook books suggest digestives as an alternative for Graham Crackers.

I was going to suggest digestives, Ilana - I don't suppose Golden Grahams cereal would do?

Ok, thanks. I will check out selfridges just in case, but I will buy digestives if not. Its just that I have eaten graham crackers and they do NOT taste the same! The cereal would not work in this recipe as it needs bigger thicker pieces.

Thanks!

Hi IlanaK - it's too late now, but for future reference you might want to try Harvey Nicks 5th floor for graham crackers as they have a good selection of American brand foods. I'd also try a shop called Partridges's on the King's Road (used to be on Sloane Street, but have recently moved). It's the only place I can find a special pancake/waffle syrup from the USA. Hope it went well today.

Thanks earlybird. In the end I used digestives and they worked fine.

Our little local corner store used to be a partridges and they sell lots of american food, but not graham crackers.
