I know there are numerous amount of these threads, but I am so sick and tired of the crap me and dd eat. I want to be able to cook proper meals that we both enjoy. I tend to eat what evers left in the fridge or freezer. Dd who is 21months has meals like cottage pies, nuggets, lasagne, fish fingers, corned beef hash, roast dinners, jacket potatoes and I cant actually think of what else I give her off the top of my head. She has marmite or jam rolls for lunch. I want to be able to give her more healthier meals, and to get her to eat more fruit and veg, but I also have the problem of her not eating properly and doesnt usually eat things off a spoon which is why I do things that can be handled like nuggets although terribly unhealthy. She usually ends up having bottles of milk to fill her up as she wont eat food. Help anyone?

Does she like rice, tammybear? All three of mine (5, 3 & 19 months) love rice and I do lots of risottos. You can hide anything in the tomato sauce bit and just have the lumps they like, in our case prawns and peas. Also soup, for the same reasons. By ds2 (19 mos) manages soup with bread to dip in, as he refuses to be spoon-fed. It's a messy business, but he's so pleased with himself for being able to do it, he doesn't really quibble about what it is, particularly if it looks like tomato!

I'll be watching this thread though for ideas, as I do the pasta/risotto/soup thing way too often.

i tried her with a stir fry once. she ate the broccoli and the rice but i dont do it too often as i am rubbish at making rice. its either too wet or burnt! i have though of risotto but dont know what to do with it. I should have pointed out I am a terrible cook lol

she usually puts anything in her mouth, but present it on a spoon, she'll look at it, if she recognises it (like if it looks like mash) she'll open up for it. If she doesnt recognise it, shell turn her head away. meatballs sound good. would that just be made out of mince rolled up?

Hi tammybear... I need some new ideas too. DS is just getting so bored with what he's eating and does the same spoon trick as your dd!

I make similar meals to yourself so I'm hoping this will bump the thread and hopefully we'll get some more recipes!

[have just written down the meatballs and will try that tomorrow night!]

lol will have to tell me how the meatballs go karen, wont be able to have a go at them til monday or tuesday

it would probably help if i could remember what i use to eat as a kid, but i dont, and mum doesnt remember either. all she remembers is pizza and chips.

i do do a chicken casserole but the chicken is always so chewy and i dont really know what im doing wrong
