So thinking of getting an air fryer but other than chips what else do you all make in it?

I've cooked burgers, chicken, fish, sausages etc in mine.

When Mr Lupin works away it's a good size to do fish & chips/ chicken and chips for 1 (mine is 2-3 litres)

Anything I'd usually cook in an oven tbh. Except jacket spuds. They don't seem to work.

raspberryrippleicecream · 05/07/2019 23:28

Dh made scones in ours yestetday

Have a look at the Phillips website - lots of ideas.
BTW, an Airfryer is not the same as an Actifry - some people confuse them.

noenergy · 08/07/2019 01:53

@gowgow I didn't know that I assumed they were the same thing but actifry was the model name.

So what's the difference?

I think the actifry moves the items around. I have this one. Had it for years and we use it loads. Duronic airfryer

gowgow · 10/07/2019 19:54

As above, the Actifry has a paddle that moves & mangles things around. The Airfryer doesn't.

Is an air fryer a way of frying something with oil?

meg70 · 15/07/2019 21:14

I've used mine so much in the couple of months I've had it. Great for "fried" chicken, fish and chips (from freezer), heating shop-bought samosas, pasties, pastries etc (they go soggy in microwave but seems daft to put oven on), wedges, jacket potatoes, re-heating pizza, dough balls, naan bread, sweet potato chips, aubergine slices (instead of grilling). I wouldn't be without it now; it's so quick and much more healthy than frying - just a few squirts of spray oil. Check the capacity though as mine is small - Philips HD9218 - but I mostly just cook for 2 at the moment so it's fine.

meg70 · 15/07/2019 21:16

Also bacon sausages etc - no oil needed, very quick.

meg70 · 15/07/2019 21:17

Ok I'll stop now!....but I also did 'baked' Camembert (in oven-proof dish) in just a few minutes.

ihatethecold · 16/07/2019 08:42

This sounds like a revelation.
Can anything be cooked in there that would normally be fried or baked?

Baked Camembert?! You are a genius Meg70. I love my air fryer and it is easier and quicker to clean than huge baking sheets.
