Plums - frozen 10lb, Jamming 10lbs - what to do with the other 40lbs I've picked (and the 60+lbs left on the tree)??

As it says, who has some good plum ideas?

They are ripe early and I haven't had time to empty my freezer (mini chest one has broken as well).

Normally I make loads of crumbles/pies/cakes but am doing WW and get too tempted.

2 yrs ago I just gave them all away (new to house then) but would like to keep a few more this year, it is bi-annual good cropper as not so many last year.

Does anyone have a good bottled whole plums recipe?

Alycat
The method below for bottling plums is from a reliable poster (not me!) to DeliaOnline:

"First make a syrup, I use 1 litre of water to 1 pound sugar. bring to the boil slowly , & simmer for 2 mins. Pack only the freshest fruit into the sterilised jars, & pour on the syrup. Put the lids on lightly, DO NOT SEAL at this stage. I always finish mine off in the oven. put a few layers of newspaper in a roasting dish, stand the jars on that, keep them a few inches apart. I put the oven on about 140 C for a fan oven, 150 C for conventional. I leave plums in for about 45 mins.
Remove from the oven & wipe with a very HOT cloth, seal & there you are, all done. I have bottled fruit for about 30 years & this method has never failed me yet."

Thanks Lily,

I have sugar and I went to get Kilner jars, so guess what I'm doing tonight.

Thanks the Deliaonline site looks great.

you can make plum wine.. or vinegar if the wine goes off

my parents used to have a very over active plum tree you can also dry them into prunes on the lowest setting of your oven overnight i think..
