How do you eat your Brie?

Following on from my Camembert thread, I've come back to ask you about Brie Grin

Never had it before, I'm slowly trying to expand my cheesiness.
So what do I do with it? Cook with it? Eat it with crackers?
I've bought a wedge of president Brie.

I've also got a small wedge of Camembert to try. But as it's a small wedge, I'm guessing I can't put that in the oven like you would a big round one?

On another cheese related note, I just tried some emmental... 🤢

Leave out of the fridge for at least half an hour before eating, big chunk with crusty bread and an apple and grapes. Yum!

ThePhoenixRises · 14/06/2019 13:33

Brie on crackers or toast

You could microwave the small amount of Camembert you have

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 14/06/2019 13:34

Yes let it come up to room temperature. It's lovely with crusty bread and chutney. I like the English Provender Company's caramelised red onion chutney.

Ftumch · 14/06/2019 13:34

With tomatoes and salt and pepper on toast or crackers is my favourite.

Ftumch · 14/06/2019 13:35

Or crusty white bread. Yum!

legolimb · 14/06/2019 13:36

Let it come to room temperature. The warmer and softer the better.

I like it with french bread and white wine .

In the sunshine.

confussedmisfit · 14/06/2019 13:37

Get a part baked baguette. Put it in for about 5 mins, mean while grill some bacon.
After the 5 mins cut it open and put slices of brie on it and oven for another 3 mins.
Then add the bacon (cranberry sauce if you wish) and enjoy. Absolutely love brie.

Alternatively, cut into wedge chunks, dip in beaten egg, roll in breadcrumbs and deep fry.

Imjustagirlwhobakes · 14/06/2019 13:39

Thick slices on a lightly toasted bagel, under the grill until it goes soft, with crispy streaky bacon and a drizzle of sweet chilli sauce!

PeoniesarePink · 14/06/2019 13:39

It's heavenly in a panini with a generous dollop of cranberry sauce, same with a baked potato. Or just naked on gluten free oat crackers.

I love love love the stuff, I buy the Somerset Brie from Waitrose or the Simon Weaver organic cotswold one (local).

Bacon and brie baguette /roll, on a salad, on top of pasta/stirred into pasta basically anything i think it will go with!

BlackPrism · 14/06/2019 13:43

With cranberry sauce or raspberry jam on dark toasted bread with rocket

BlackPrism · 14/06/2019 13:43

Oh yes or with grapes

theemmadilemma · 14/06/2019 13:48

Open fridge, bite, put back. Wink

HarryHenderson · 14/06/2019 13:49

Ooh, some great ideas here! Let just hope I like the taste..
I've got some crackers and grapes. Might go nuts and get some white wine to go with it

Inhaled 🙈😋

UsernameTaken76 · 14/06/2019 14:20

Usually just have it with buttered crackers and grapes. But tonight using it in Jack Monroe’s car-brie-nara. Intrigued to see how it’ll be instead of the usual Parmesan.

ThePhoenixRises · 14/06/2019 14:22

Brie and bacon panini's are amazing

WhiteLightTrainWreck · 14/06/2019 14:25

Room temp on crusty bread with grapes
Or my favourite
In a toasty with cranberry sauce and. bacon 😍
As for the camembert, microwave works well.
Sorry you don't like emmental, it's lush!

tobee · 14/06/2019 14:36

On its own straight from the fridge.

LoafofSellotape · 14/06/2019 16:15

Brie and cranberry sauce is amazing!

Stargirl90 · 14/06/2019 19:52

In a sandwich (thick white buttered bread) with mango chutney 🤤 SO good

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/06/2019 19:58

I like it cold from the fridge, in a baguette with rocket and salted Lurpak. Tiny Santorini tomatoes (under-ripe) on the side and a bag of Kettle Chips salt and vinegar!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 14/06/2019 21:59

I've just been inspired to buy some brie. Mmm.

HarryHenderson · 17/06/2019 10:12

Right... I'm either missing something here or I'm eating it wrong.

I like the texture but... it tasted like paracetamol Confused
