Can I use out of date frozen pastry?

I’ve just realised my shortcrust frozen pastry expired in Nov 2017! Blush it’s unopened in the freezer - should I just chuck it out?! Or will it be ok for a quiche? Thanks!

I would use it as long as it was in date when it was frozen.

It will be fine

I’m on the slack end of mumsnet but I generally don’t give a damn about the date on it if it’s been frozen, that’s why I freeze stuff! If I defrosted meat or fish and it looked or smelt a bit funny I’d probably ditch it but otherwise crack on....

Thanks so much for your replies. I will give it a go as I bought it ready frozen. Fingers crossed! Smile

It doesn't go off if it has remained frozen but the quality slowly starts to deteriorate, it will be absolutely fine to eat.

I definitely would use it, but the quality might have affected a bit, so depending on how much I wanted to impress I think I’d consider picking up a fresh packet and saving that one for a less fancy meal. No bloody way would I chuck it.

Thanks. I’m blind baking it at the moment... I’m not ever going to impress anyone with my cooking(!) but I definitely don’t want to poison anyone. So far so good - it just smells like regular pastry cooking....
