greenelephantscarf · 04/05/2019 10:59

LizziesTwin · 04/05/2019 10:59

Pork & beef mixed in our house

FrenchyQ · 04/05/2019 11:00

Lidl pork and beef mince pack

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 04/05/2019 11:02

Mixed pork and beef. Sometimes use half sausage meat or veal

Theoldwoman · 04/05/2019 11:02

Always beef for us.

missmouse101 · 04/05/2019 11:07

Nice lean beef.

Wouldyouorshouldyou · 04/05/2019 11:09

Beef and pork mix

BiggerBoat1 · 04/05/2019 11:12

Beef for me please.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/05/2019 11:14

Pork and beef and I make it to eat the next day as the flavours settle and it tastes nicer.

I do lean beef with a bit of bacon

willowtree66 · 04/05/2019 11:26

Turkey for us as it's lower in fat and we don't eat a lot of red meat.

stucknoue · 04/05/2019 11:37

50/50 veal/beef and pork if you want authenticity. I use lean steak mince though. I've tried lentils and chopped mushrooms (veggie dd) but don't like, prefer just vegetables if not doing meat

Polarbearflavour · 04/05/2019 16:32

DH came back with turkey mince and said something about it being low fat and better for the environment than beef! So I shall let you know how it turns out...

We usually use beef but have started using ostrich meat as it's really lean and nutritious. Appreciate though that that wouldn't be easy to find in the UK!

Turkey mince is fine. A very different end result from red meat but will still taste ok. A rasher or two of bacon added can be nice. Don't overcook the mince.

woodcutbirds · 06/05/2019 16:30

Beef.
Turkey mince makes great burgers but I find it a bit sludgy for bolognese. It doesn't hold its texture like beef does. I'd make a tomato veggie sauce and turn the turkey into meatballs to go on top instead.

Bittercup · 06/05/2019 16:32

Beef mince or 50/50 beef and Quorn. Same goes for chilli!

PlumCakeChica · 06/05/2019 16:34

Pork mince or pork/beef 50:50

slippermaiden · 06/05/2019 16:40

Lentils!

TheQueef · 06/05/2019 16:41

Bacon and beef or Lidl venison and beef.

Whisky2014 · 06/05/2019 16:42

Mainly beef but last time we used lamb it was delicious. Actually, for spag bog you do want a higher fat not lower fat!

TheQueef · 06/05/2019 16:46

I prefer slow cooked Bolognese with stewing steak chopped to smithereens and bacon. I've time though.

babysharkah · 06/05/2019 16:52

Turkey for big standard mid week meal.

Veal (English Rose), beef and pork mix with finely shipped streaky bacon for something more luxurious.
