What have you got in the way of cheese and cream?

Ohyesiam · 31/03/2019 11:24

All the recipes are basically the same .
Make a spaghetti Bol, make a white sauce, layer it with lasagne and stick it in the oven with some grated cheese on top. Have a look at bbc good food website.
I always make a double quantity of spag Bol and do the lasagne the next day so I don’t feel like I’m cooking two meals.
But I’m quite lazy Smile

This www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1109637/lasagne?utm_source=app is fairly standard. I too just make my standard Bolognese recipe and layer it with dried lasagne and cheese sauce

Do you boil the lasagne sheets before you put it in the dish?

@Ricekrispie22 I have a huge block of cheddar and double cream? I do have a ready made white sauce but would love to try my own!

Op lasagne is not quick to make - you do know that don't you? You'll want to get the ragu sauce on first, so it has time to reduce and become thick and saucy. Watery, tasteless ragu sauce in a lasagne is vile.

Then make your cheese sauce (bechamel/ white, whatever you want to do).

Then you can start assembling, starting with a blob of bechamel on the bottom of the dish, alternating with ragu and sheets of lasagne. Finish with bechamel and some grated parmesan/ cheddar.

Check the packet of your lasagne sheets, most of them don't need precooking (they cook in the sauce once you've assembled everything).

If it was me (I trained as a chef BTW) I'd work on the basis that it would take me about an hour to get the whole thing assembled and in the oven, and it'll then want a good 35 minutes to become golden & bubbling. If you are cooking for lunch today, I'd ditch the lasagne idea and just make Bolognese.

If you're cooking for this evening, then go for the lasagne. But don't underestimate the time/ amount of washing up [hmmm].

I'm afraid that ready made is my best friend. My DH is veggie so I have to make Quorn mince lasagne. Here's my quick recipe.
1 large jar of Lloyd Grossman tomato and chilli sauce, one tub of 3 cheese sauce, any make, 1 packet of quorn mince, 1 packet of mozzarella, a chunk of Parmesan and a big load of strong cheddar. Wholemeal lasagne sheets.
Fry quorn, add Tom sauce, heat through,
Heat up cheese sauce
Chop up mozzarella
Grate other cheeses.
Layer up as follows
Tom sauce, pasta sheet, cheese sauce, mozzarella, cheddar, parmesan. Repeat, ending with the cheeses.
Oven bake for at least 45 mins
