Pimp my gammon

I only ever serve it like a roast dinner eg cauli cheese, roast spuds, cooked carrots and leeks normally.

I want to do something different but have no inspiration for sides etc.

I have the Jamie recipe for cooking it in coke - any other ideas for serving??

Lathered in a DIY barbecue sauce, piled high with apple slaw and sandwiched in warm brioche. www.gousto.co.uk/cookbook/pork-recipes/pulled-barbecue-ham-sandwich-apple-slaw
Alternatively, with sweet potato wedges and pineapple salsa. There are loads of recipes on the internet for gammon with pineapple salsa and this is my favourite. It uses gammon steaks, but I’ve served the wedges and salsa before with ordinary roasted gammon slices.

Well it's in the slow cooker now so I'm bumping for more ideas - not sure the pineapple salsa will be a hit with dc

I'd still do it a la roast dinner but maybe with some sides that are different for your family?

Scalloped potatoes, green beans, honey glazed carrots

creamed or roasted brussel sprouts, red cabbage and hassleback potatoes

This article has a whole list of different ideas: www.delish.com//g4585/side-dishes-for-ham/

Have it with egg and chips?

I do a big gammon joint often - one day we have with veg, cauli cheese etc, next day ham and eggs, baked beans, another day use it as a pizza topping on ciabatta, with mozarella, sundried tomatoes, whatever you want ...

Oddly disappointed this isn't a brexit thread

Dauphinois potatoes or artichoke mash, steamed rainbow chard, buttered chantenay carrots.

Grin

I think I'm going creamy mustard leeks, potato wedges and then carrots.

Would honey roasted be too sweet with a sweet glazed gammon?? Is there a balsamic option somehow to give some acidity to the mix?

Ps love all the leftover ideas but got a feeling there won't be any!

Good suggestions above.
Just to add - I was always a devotee of cooking in cider/apple juice or Nigella’s recipe for Coke. She tried a slow-cooked oven version which is even better.
I adapted this to: small or medium joint on double layer of strong foil. Add pepper and couple tablespoons of maple syrup. Wrap up in baggy but secure fashion and put in roasting tin to guard against leaks.
Roast at low temp (120c) for 8-10 hours. V easy as overnight or first thing in the morning.
It’s so much tastier, as you are not losing lots of flavour in cooking liquid.
I don’t have a slow cooker, but know people who use them with or without liquid.

Oh, and our favourite definitely ham, egg and chips!
