fio2 · 08/09/2004 11:56

I'd just have a bit of BUTTER on it (or low fat spread)

how about a small tin of tuna

gothicmama · 08/09/2004 11:56

potatoes do not have a lot of calories

"One of the most popular foods is probably chips or French fries. 1oz (25g) yields approximately 72 calories as compared to 24 calories for the same weight of potato baked. The extra 48 calories per ounce is the fat that is absorbed as a result of frying; this means that 66% of the calories in chips comes from the fat they are fried in.

Baked potatoes on their own are very low in calories and make an excellent food for slimmers, as long as they are not loaded with toppings. It is the butter [210 calories per 1oz (25g)], soured cream [58 per 1oz (25g)], and cheese [Cheddar for example, is 117 per 1oz (25g)] that hike up the calorie count. Low-fat plain yogurt makes a good alternative topping at only 15 calories per 1oz (25g) and various herbs and spices can be included for added flavor. A few examples include dill, oregano and basil."

soup
its 24 degrees here in wiltshire

bundle · 08/09/2004 12:02

i find soup a little too wet. except broth with lots of cabbage, barley and bits of chicken. on a freezing cold day, obviously.

auntyquated · 08/09/2004 12:02

soup - just looked lots of calories, 13.8g of fat...is that a lot?
have just found some 'extra light cream cheese'

angeliz's idea is the most appealing

OP posts:
angryfish · 08/09/2004 12:02

have it with butter

fio2 · 08/09/2004 12:03

you could make a tomato sauce for the tuna and put it on with a few kidney beans on

angryfish · 08/09/2004 12:03

is it a smal one?

auntyquated · 08/09/2004 12:03

angryfish - good job i'm not in wiltshire as soup or baked potato it is.

fio2 · 08/09/2004 12:03

if you are dieting you should try to stick to under 6g of fat on things, or something

Kayleigh · 08/09/2004 12:05

I would go with salt, pepper and vinegar with a small sprinkling of grated cheese.

auntyquated · 08/09/2004 12:05

OK - fio2 is the winner...i'm off to make it now. thanks gals.

fio2 - i emailed you with some attchments and it has been returned 'undeliverable'. i will try again after my spud.

cheers all

why would you need salt on a baked potato i dont understand, do you not all line your tray with salt to stop them sticking to it?

fio2 · 08/09/2004 12:06

auntyquated i will e-mail you my other address

angryfish · 08/09/2004 12:11

auntyquated did you used to be someone else?

auntyquated · 08/09/2004 12:13

OP posts:
angryfish · 08/09/2004 12:14

just wondered if I had missed a nmae change

CountessDracula · 08/09/2004 12:16

Cod, cook baked potato, scoop out potato and mix it up with tuna, some chives or spring onions and a little bit of cheese, plus pepper. Put back in skins and cook for 10 mins in hot oven

Heaven

auntyquated · 08/09/2004 12:16
