1, Chicken Breast about 400g
2, Asparagus tips, Baby courgettes and Potatoes.

How do i cook these in the steamer. Also how long for.
Baby courgettes how do i prepare these, do i leave skin on and slice them up????

I guess:
chicken in bottom,
Potatoes in middle,
Asparagus+courgettes on top????

Any Help Please

Can you actually cook a boiled egg in the Steamer with the shell on????

not sure I would steam chicken or potatoes -
The courgettes you can slice however you like, but keep an eye on them as they cook very quickly.

I generally only steam fish, fruit and veg and not starches like potatoes and meat or chicken.
Happy cooking.

Potatoes - I always do them in the bottom - will probably take about 15-20 mins depending on the size. Then add the other layers as you need to for their cooking time.
Baby courgettes/asparagus - only about 3-5 mins depending on how firm you want them.
Never done chicken I must admit - so not sure - but would guess at about 15 mins for an average sized breast (can't picture how much that weight is!). Does the instruction book say anything about cooking chicken?

fish si lovely- wrap fish / meat in paper and shove lots of erbs and lemon in, for times check the book- they vary a bit

Ours is invaluable.

I do potatoes too, esp. new potatoes.

I have never used it for meat - but I would put the spuds below the rest so that the starch does not drop down on them.

Hi Bamzooki,
The manual says:Chicken breast fillets size 225/250g cook for 22/25mins. I will do them for 30/35mins.

Thanx for the advice. lisa

Haven't done it for a while but used to regularly wrap a couple of chicken breasts in lightly buttered foil, slug of wine, bay leaf/ thyme, salt and pepper. Takes about 25 mins once the water is boiling. I put the potatoes in the first one and chicken in the top. Courgettes and asparagus would take no time at all so I would just add them as the top tier near the end.

Never done an egg. Think timing would be difficult. You could just pop one into the bottom pan though.

If veg cooks too quickly whip out the tier and refresh under cold water. Finish them off when needed. Works fine with beans.

I do chicken breasts for about 25 minutes in ours. I don't wrap them in foil, (maybe should try that method though), just put them on one of the levels.
I did do boiled eggs in our old steamer but that was an electric one that only survived a year. It had a plastic bit that you stood the eggs in. I think (this was several years ago!) you steamed them for about the same time as you do them in boiling water.
The other thing I do is steamed rice. Put 8oz basmati rice in a glass bowl with 16fl oz cold water and steam for 40 mins. Has more taste than boiled rice.

I use mine to grow rice-based mould cultures.
