What kind of birthday cake will I have?

I don't eat chocolate- like zero as I'm a proper chocaholic so had to quit years ago. so looking for birthday cake ideas, the last few years I've had lovely carrot cakes but I would like something different this year.

Will be getting it professionally made so I'm open to ideas of different types of cake- just has to have zero chocolate!

I was thinking maybe a baked berry cheesecake but not sure

Ok so Colin the ubiquitous Caterpillar birthday cake is out.

If I was to gave a professionally made cake right now I'd go for a lemon drizzle. It's a classic but when done right it can be super light and amazing. ( and not as heavy a a lump of concrete, like my last attempt at one turned out!)

For my daughters last birthday cake I made a lemon madeira cake with lemon curd filling and a lemon butter cream. It tasted lovely.

Thanks both, lemon doesn't seem very appealing. I don't know maybe it is just because I've not tried it before

Traditional Victoria sponge with a fresh raspberry and cream filling.

TheWoollybacksWife · 20/02/2019 18:04

My birthday cake last year was caramel flavoured and it was blooming gorgeous.

EdgesWedges · 20/02/2019 18:07

@TheWoollybacksWife what kind of caramel cake? Was it like a sponge or something?

Apple crumble cake.
Or a heavy fruit cake - I love Christmas cake

Get a slice from a bakers! Done well and it is lovely!

Coconut!

Habbs · 20/02/2019 18:16

Can't beat Red Velvet.

Habbs · 20/02/2019 18:17

Sorry, that does have chocolate. Unhelpful.

Blondie1984 · 20/02/2019 18:18

Tres leche cake or coconut

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 20/02/2019 18:21

Naked cake (lots of layers of Victoria sponge with fresh cream and berries)

Coffee and walnut cake with coffee buttercream

Apple cake with crumble topping

Almond cake with raspberries

Spanish orange and almond meringue cake

Notso · 20/02/2019 18:24

Lotus biscuit or caramac (apologies if you count caramac as chocolate)

LGFuad · 20/02/2019 18:33

One of our tiers on our wedding cake was coffee flavour and it was so good

TheWoollybacksWife · 20/02/2019 18:34

It was sponge cake with a delicate caramel taste layered with caramel flavoured buttercream and a very thin layer of dulce de leche. It wasn't overwhelmingly caramel - it was quite subtle but really delicious.

It was my 50th birthday cake. I don't usually have a cake as we have lots of birthdays one after the other and we tend to get a bit 'caked out' but my DDs know I have a weakness for caramel and ordered it specially.

Scaredofskiing · 20/02/2019 18:51

Coffee and walnut cake or croquembouche

AdaColeman · 20/02/2019 18:56

Coffee and walnut is a classic, always popular. Or maybe a rainbow layer cake?

EdgesWedges · 21/02/2019 10:50

Not a fan of coffee but the Victoria sponge sounds nice or maybe take the caramel idea and have a caramel cheesecake

I’d choose Victoria sponge filled with fresh cream and strawberries

Whynham · 21/02/2019 20:25

Coconut and raspberry jam
