ooh I did one recently

can you make meringues? that's the only bit that requires any work really!

pavlova is really dead easy and always looks impressive I think!

mine is as follows ...

  1. get in car
  2. drive to Waitrose
  3. get out of car
  4. go into Waitrose
  5. locate pavlova isle and thus find a pavlova
  6. take said pavlova to checkout
  7. pay for said pavlova
  8. leave Waitrose
  9. Get in car
  10. drive home
  11. get out of car,, come inside and eat pavlova

yum

LOL - sorry waynetta me dear, I made a pavlova once and it ended up a chewy 3 mm high mess in the oven - so have since not bothered (a let down to kiwis everywhere I'm afraid!!)

25g caster sugar, 1/2 tsp cornflour and 1/2 white vinegar to each egg white.

Whisk egg whites. Whisk in sugar, bit at a time making sure it is all incorporated (any whole grains will turn to syrup during cooking).

Add cornflour and vinegar and beat/fold in.

Place mixture on baking paper on baking tray. Cook at around 140C for about 75 mins.

You play with the amount of vinegar and cornflour to make it more or less chewy/marshmallowy in the middle.

You can use cocoa and vinegar and chopped chocolate to make choc pavlova.

4 egg whites
8oz caster sugar
1 and a half tsp cornflour
1 and a half tsp white wine vinegar

oven 160C

Whisk egg whites until stiff, then add sugar bit by bit and then the cornflour and vinegar (blend them together first).

Spread meringue in a circle on greaseproof paper on a baking tray. Build up the sides so they are higher than the middle.

Put in oven but turn down straight away to 150C. Cook for around 1 hour (till firm and going beige). Turn off oven and let it cool in there.

Fill with whipped cream and fruit once cooled down.

4 egg whites
Pinch of salt
225g caster sugar
2 teaspoons cornflour
1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
oven - 160 degrees

whisk egg whites and salt until they form stiff peaks (wipe the bowl you are going to use with half a lemon as this ensures there is no grease anywhere which can stop the eggs beating well)

Add a quarter of the sugar, and whisk until the mix is glossy and stiff. Add half the remaining sugar, whisk until glossy and repeat with the remaining sugar. Gently whisk in the cornflour and vinegar.

put mixture onto greaseproof paper and put into oven (doesn#t have to be neat but i do a circle shape). Turn temp down to 140 degrees and then cook for one hour

leave in the oven overnight (turn oven off first)

This dries the outside out but the inside will be sticky

pile loads of whipped cream on top and cover in berries
