Soya milk

I have just started using soya milk, trying to cut down the dairy for health reasons. I prefer my milk warmed for coffee, but wonder if its a good idea to heat it? Tasted a bit odd when I did it earlier, and it was a new carton, so not that. Do I just need to leave it cold or room temp? Tia.

You can do anything with it you would with normal milk. It’s fine heated, I use it to make sauces and things as well. Remember it will taste like soya milk not dairy milk exactly, whatever you do to it

We use oatly milk, my coffee adict husband says it better than soya milk (especially the barista version).

Thanks Buffalo and Chocolate. Have yet to try the oatley, will give it a go when I see some!

We found soya milk, even when unsweetened, made things slightly sweeter. We basically use it for anything you use milk for.

Oatly is nicer than soya and doesn’t split Envy

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 29/01/2019 12:16

Thanks. Yes, the splitting is a bit of an issue.

Third the Oatly Barista (grey carton) recommendation - it’s usually by the long life mills rather than in the fridges.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 29/01/2019 13:08

Can i ask those that use it where you get Oatly Barista please? Feels like I'm missing out now...

Tesco online normally have it but I've seen it in Waitrose and the Co-op as well as deli type shops.

EduCated · 29/01/2019 16:25

We usually get it in Tesco, more hit and miss with Sainsburys. By the long life milk (which usually seems to be near the eggs/baking section).

Thanks both.

dairy milk is healthy

Disfordarkchocolate · 29/01/2019 21:02

I agree it's healthy but we have someone who is lactose intolerant in the house and someone moving towards being vegan. Smile

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 29/01/2019 21:23

My OP states for health reasons. This is not a debate about normal milk.

Alpro oat milk is nicer than soya imo for hot drinks. Soya separates if you make strong coffee for some reason.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 30/01/2019 21:05

Oh, that's interesting Lived. My problem was with coffee, and I only have one per day, so I feel entitled to have it strong! Thanks. Everyone's been really helpful, thanks lovely vipers :)

Alpro Soya Original (long life one, not the one in the fridges) is the best, lovely hot and never splits

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 31/01/2019 14:58

Thanks Vegancow. Like the name btw :)
