3 layers in total, have put quite a bit of sauce on top to try and make up for it! Will it still turn out ok?

Of lasagna that should say!

That should be fine

NeutralJanet · 19/01/2019 16:05

I only ever put the Bolognese stuff in the layers and the white sauce and grated cheese on top, am I doing it wrong?

Friolero · 19/01/2019 16:06

I put a little bit of white sauce on the middle layers, but it's not essential as long as it's on top. I'm sure it'll taste great.

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/01/2019 16:06

It'll be fine.

SimplyPut · 19/01/2019 16:06

It will be fine.

cloudtree · 19/01/2019 16:08

I only ever put the white sauce on top

BlueisthenewGrey · 19/01/2019 16:11

I also only put sauce on the top layer. It will be fine.

boringlyboring · 19/01/2019 16:14

Phew! The recipe I base it on (bbc) says to put it on each layer of pasta, I’ve just always done it that way.

Thanks everyone!

I never use white sauce at all as I think it's rank.

KateArronax · 19/01/2019 16:15

I do that to minimise the work!

boringlyboring · 19/01/2019 16:24

What do you use eurochick? Would love an alternative to faffing about with flour

OP posts:
Lauren83 · 19/01/2019 16:26

I only do it on the top layer

Hiphopopotamous · 19/01/2019 17:42

My family are Italian.
We never use white sauce. Instead use grated Edam, grana padano, mozzarella, hard boiled egg and raw egg in each layer. Not sure it's entirely traditional but it goes back generations.

spreadingchestnuttree · 19/01/2019 17:47

Hiphopopotamous I would love a proper recipe for that if you don't mind? ie exact quantities

spreadingchestnuttree · 19/01/2019 17:52

Ive just googled and this Italian family recipe also has grated egg. I'm intrigued - never heard of doing that before! wishesndishes.com/grandmas-italian-lasagna-and-a-memory/

Do you taste the egg in the finished dish?

PS. Sorry for the derailing the thread somewhat - fwiw I think white sauce only on top is fine Smile

LittleMe03 · 19/01/2019 19:05

We just put white sauce on top layer too before grated cheese but only use a thin layer because none of us like that much of the white sauce Smile

Hiphopopotamous · 19/01/2019 20:25

@spreadingchestnuttree there is no exact recipe 🙈 it's all by eye! Still never tastes as good as my nonna's - think her secret ingredient was sugar++ in the tomato sauce!

You can taste the egg and I really like it!

spreadingchestnuttree · 19/01/2019 23:40

I knew you were going to say that - all the best recipes seem to be done by eye. Hmm I might give it a go but I'm not very good at improvising!
