Hot desserts?

We take it in turns to bring in a sweet treat once a month. It will be my turn next month so would love to hear some ideas. I've done various tray bakes and cheesecakes before but with the weather being so cold and miserable I was thinking of a hot dessert. Before anyone suggests it , I'm not a lover of pastry so apple pie is not appealing. I dont want to do a crumble either. It needs to feed 10-15 people and will be reheated in a microwave. I'd rather not have to buy a lot of ingredients or anything too expensive.Any ideas?

Phil vickery Jam roly poly recipe is easy to follow and tastes great.

How about warm indulgent brownies?

I’m thinking they’re easy to cut into portions without having to make multiple bakes.

There's a warm Thai rice pudding recipe straight up on google, rice, coconut milk/condensed milk, nutmeg, cinammon Yadda, if you're into that sort of thing!

Why does it have to be heated up in a microwave? Where are you bringing it to?

I’d hate to make a lovely pudding and then have it heated up in a microwave.

Sticky toffee pudding is a good shout.
Pineapple upside down cake, warm, not hot.
How would bread and butter pudding reheat?

A luxurious, silky bread and butter pudding made with brioche or croissants.

Ppl can eat it hot/cold/warmed through depending on what they prefer.

FamilyOfAliens - I would be cooking/baking dessert at home in the evening then bringing it in to work the following day and as I want it to be hot due to the cold weather it will have to be reheated in the microwave.
As our breaktimes and lunchtimes are staggered it needs to be a dessert that people can serve themselves a portion then warm it up in the microwave.
Sticky Toffee pudding and Pineapple Upside Cake are sounding good at the moment. Anyone have any tried and tested recipes for them?

I made this at Christmas. It was very easy and divine.
Sticky Toffee Pudding

Ingredients
175g (6oz) pitted dates, roughly chopped
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
75g (3oz) lightly salted butter, softened, plus extra for greasing
50g (2oz) dark muscovado sugar
50g (2oz) soft light brown sugar
2 eggs
100ml (3½fl oz) milk
175g 6oz) self-raising flour, plus extra for dusting
Sauce
100g light brown sugar
100g butter
100ml cream or milk

Method

  1. Pour 150ml boiling water over the dates and bicarbonate of soda and set aside to soak for 10 minutes. Add the vanilla extract and mash the mixture with a fork, or blitz in a blender.
  2. Preheat the oven to gas 4, 180°C, fan 160°C. Butter a 20 x 30cm tin or ceramic dish and line the base with non-stick baking paper.
  3. Beat the butter with both the muscovado sugars until smooth. Beat in the eggs, followed by the milk and the date mix, beating well each time (the mixture may split, but will come together when you add the flour). Sieve in the flour and fold. Pour into the dish or tin and smooth the top. Bake for 35 mins .
  4. Meanwhile, make the sauce. Put the butter and sugar in a saucepan over a low heat until the butter has melted and the sugar is dissolved but not burned. Add the cream or milk and heat until bubbling, stirring continually. Spoon half the sauce over the cooked sponge as soon as it is removed from the oven, keeping the remaining sauce warm. Let the sponge sit for 10 mins then cut into 8. Serve warm, with the extra sauce and some crème fraîche or ice cream, if you like.

I thought it would be something like that. I just think it’s a shame it has to be reheated in a microwave but having said that, the microwave banana pudding sounds fab, probably because the whole thing is made in the microwave.
