suzywong · 29/06/2007 14:50

lou33 · 29/06/2007 14:50

I know we could ask Cod.

HAVINGanotherone · 29/06/2007 14:50

i found that with fresh bread it works better if you toast it first, then whizz in blender.

skirmish · 29/06/2007 14:51

won't it go all sticky though?

(for the record it's el cheapo kingsmill if that makes a difference!)

if no blender then grate it on a cheese grater - watch your fingers though!

With making bread crumbs the staler the bread the better so if it is fresh put in a low oven to dry out.

what you making?

suzywong · 29/06/2007 14:51

use the crust

BreeVanDerCamp · 29/06/2007 14:52

Cheapo Kingsmill and you PG the very thought of it.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 29/06/2007 14:53

you can use a hand blender too. it's a bit messier but it works!

skirmish · 29/06/2007 14:53

it's not for me - i buy it for the um...birds

of course, being pg, i have made my own bread with ingredients grown in the garden!

taost it and then put it in the blender.

or use the cheese grater.

singersgirl · 29/06/2007 15:02

I dry it out in a low oven and then put it in the blender if it's fresh.

lilolilmanchester · 30/06/2007 12:19

If you're using the bread crumbs to top e.g. a fish pie, or to make stuffing, you can just cut it into really small cubes. It works really well, just slightly chunkier. Obviously you need finer crumbs if adding to meatballs etc.

SoMuchToBits · 30/06/2007 12:21

It grates or blends more easily if it's a few days old. If it's fresh, dry it out in an oven a bit first.
