Jam is preserved due to the amount of sugar you put in and the cooking process, it should last months in the fridge once opened. Or even years when you keep it sealed, unless you didn't sterilise the bottles and didn't fill it properly. There is no real reason to freeze it, why do you want to?

i've put it in tuppaware, the ones that click shut so they were sterilised but i wasnt sure if it would keep in plastic rather than glass

It shouldn't make a difference if it is glass of plastic. I think you should just once opened keep it in the fridge and check to see if it spoils, I think you will be save for a few weeks. You might find the jam separating a bit once thawed though. There is a forum called chef2chef, they have some good hints and tips. HTH

My mum freezes jam in a largish tupperware. It doesn't freeze solid, just goes thick and slushy. Then she scoops out enough for a week or so and puts in in a smaller container in the fridge.

yes, I have noticed that (stays slushy) as I have to buy a special organic Jam which only keeps seven days. Wasnt sure if I should be freezing it or not. The other thing I do is to make lots of buns and cakes containing the jam and then freeze them!
