Going to a do where we all have to take a tray of nibbles for c 40 people. Host refuses to be more specific except she wants me to do savoury. No cooking/reheating to be done at her house as oven will be in use. Finger food only. My fall-back is home made sausage rolls. What would you make in similar situation?

I am just making batches of these to go with drinks tonight. Lay out a sheet of puff pastry. Lay slices of parma ham on top (I used 4 slices) grate over gruyere cheese, brush beaten egg on top edge & roll up like a swiss roll. Cut into 1cm pinwheels, flatten slightly & bake for 10/15 mins 180° fan oven. They are so simple & lovely hot or cold. You can make them the day before but I prefer them made the same day as pastry is crisper.

They look fab Hilda, I do similar with anchovy paste or whole grain mustard. Always a hit! Wine

Ooh anchovy paste - I'm definitely trying that! Thanks Ada Smile

I think I would do a tray of mini and chipolata sausages and keep them warm wrapped in foil. Job done

AdaColeman · 18/12/2018 19:18

Hilda You don't need much anchovy paste, use it sparingly! Cheese & mustard works well, and tapenade is super too! Wine

@HildaOnAHarley ooh they look lovely

Can you make a vegetarian or vegan version of your sausage rolls too? Bought pastry is usually vegan.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 19/12/2018 12:50

@fabulousathome I can make some vegetarian rolls. There won't be any vegans there, nor any vegetarians although some of the meat eaters only eat meat if they know the source so a veg version probably a good idea.

We have tiny sandwiches...
They used a circle cutter and had 3 slices on bread... With cocktail stickers to hold them together... So cute...
Some were the size of a slice of tomato. Or cucumber....

Ooh that's a lovely idea @mummmy2017 , think I will do a mixed plate of those along with sausage rolls. Thank you
