Bicarb of soda same as baking powder or not?

Want to make a cake. Can i use baking powder instead of bicarb of soda?

You can substitute baking powder in place of baking soda (you'll need more baking powder and it may affect the taste), but you can't use baking soda when a recipe calls for baking powder. Baking soda by itself lacks the acidity to make a cake rise. However, you can make your own baking powder if you have baking soda and cream of tartar. Simply mix two parts cream of tartar with one part baking soda.

Thanks. I think i understand all that.
Recipe uses baking power too. And i do have some cream of tartar.

Great! Now the batteries in the scales has gone flat.And its 2 cell batteries so i can't replace them today!

If your scales aren't working you can measure things using cups/tablespoons instead.

i sometimes use baking powder instead and so far it has always been fine

inormally guess quantities and dont weigh them as well
