My children are fussy eaters and I have come to the conclusion that I quite frankly don't give a shitty shite!

they will not eat casseroles, but will eat chicken and veg DRY. So what, it is the same ingredients

only raw carrots, not cooked. Only red peppers, not orange or yellow. Again, so what, still veg yes?

will not eat fish - so what, they used to and may do again

either that or sardines on toast

puddle · 20/06/2007 11:31

It's the way he builds me up and then immedaiately dashes my hopes. He did the same with hummous the other day.

Enid · 20/06/2007 11:32

lol

I get excited going to buy the New Food

then I end up blardy eating it

puddle · 20/06/2007 11:34

Grilled halloumi is something I'm trying this week. He had some the other day and loved it (cue puddle lovingly assembling sarnie only to find it crushed in the secret pocket of ds's lunchbag).

herbiemom · 20/06/2007 11:35

My mum reckons it's karma...

I was a VERY fussy eater until I was about 10 - existed on a diet of potatoes and cheese. Nothing else. It drove my parents mad and my brother copied me a lot of the time so they were always completely embarrassed by us if we ever ate with other friends/family.

Anyway, my 2 DSs are pretty fussy too - not quite as bad as I was but won't try anything new. My mum is loving it.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 20/06/2007 11:36

Oh, the lunchbox you so lovingly prepared that morning coming back in the afternoon with half the contents still there (but squashed) and covered in exploded yoghurt.
Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

Enid · 20/06/2007 11:38

no cake chez enid if lunch comes back uneaten [stern]

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 20/06/2007 11:43

How do you prove they haven't just binned it, Enid?

Wish my DD would bin her leftovers, the smell of afternoon lunchbox is vile

oliveoil · 20/06/2007 11:46

oooh goody more to my flock

dd1 has ham sandwich on brown every single day (well the 3 she is at playgroup)

AND, because I am a ponce and made a rod for my own back, it is only Nigella Coca Cola ham, none of your (easy) supermarket packet stuff

I made macoroni (how do you spell that?) cheese for tea last night

dd2 pronounced that she does not like white sauce, can I make it red??

yes, with my Magic Food Changing Wand dd2, ffs

My ds has cottoned on to the fact that dh is a chef and makes much nicer dinners than muumy. Cue 'Who made this?' whilst eyeing up proffered dinner on table.

My aunt had 3 boys who were terible eaters. On hols this yr all 3 ordered dover sole in a restaurant and ate it with veg. They are big strapping teens now, she says she still feels ilke doing cartwheels when she sees them trough.

Kewcumber · 20/06/2007 11:51

my Ds is really too little to be very fussy about food yet (18 months) - do I have this ahead of me? Do OK eaters become picky eaters at a witching age?

oliveoil · 20/06/2007 11:52

lol northerner

dh apparently chops apples better then me

OP posts:
Enid · 20/06/2007 11:54

mine have both inexplicably gone off spaghetti bolognaise

now tht IS a pita as it was one fo the few things we ALL eat

oliveoil · 20/06/2007 11:56

hmm, yes

dd2 had some the other day, dd1 proclaimed she didn't like the brown bits

er, that would be the mince then dd1 which forms the whole dish????????

bozza · 20/06/2007 12:03

DD not keen on crisps. always has to have some on plate at parties not to be left out. But while everyone else (inc DS) is piling mountains of crisps on their plate she is munching through a variety of sandwiches.

ekra · 20/06/2007 12:06

Neither of my children have ever eaten a raw salad vegetable. I get green with envy when I see those children with little pots of cucumber and tomatoes and they are happily munching away. They won't entertain the idea of strawberries either. Weird.

But they both like Mayonnaise - strangely - so I am trying to ensure that remains. One day they might eat a salad and mayo sandwich..... when they're 22?

GreebosWhiskers · 20/06/2007 12:08

Kewcumber - my ds is 7mo & I remarked to dh the other day that it's great how he'll eat anything that you put in his mouth.

dh cast a beady-eyed glare at dd3 who'd just frisbee'd her plate across the table with her usual cry of 'no laaak it!' & said 'Yes, but so did she at that age'.

Kewcumber · 20/06/2007 12:10

so somewhere between 7 months and 3 yrs then?

Listmaker · 20/06/2007 12:11

I wouldn't entertain salad as a child ekra but eat it now. my dd1 won't touch any of it either! You just have to be patient!

GreebosWhiskers · 20/06/2007 12:11

Just tried dd3 with a few raspberries to decorate her rice cake & satsuma 'flower'.

Am now scrubbing raspberry stains off the sofa.

USAUKMum · 20/06/2007 12:36

Mine went off spaghetti bolognaise , so now we have spaghetti and meatballs.....except DD has her spaghetti on the side with butter. But has just started trying some sauce on it and last night actually put some meat and pasta on the same fork. life might not be the same again

noddyholder · 20/06/2007 12:44

My ds is soooooooo fussy but I think it is easier just to give him what he likes as otherwise he eats nothing! Will only eat cocoa pops(I know they're bad)and I have bought everything but in an attempt to get him to eat a less sugary one but didn't work.I am fed up of cooking stuff only to throw it away so am giving him sausage and mash til it comes out of his ears-organic of course!
