I have, in the past, frequently tried to bake for DH. Every time have been a disaster. I'd resigned myself to just being rubbish at it!

But now of course, DS have reached the 'baking age'. He baked at nursery on fri afternoon and is keen to do more at home.

Bearing in mind the above information, can anyone start me off with something simple and 'mummy proof' PLEASE!

Try thes oat biscuits.
75g (3oz) of plain flour,
1/2 a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda,
75g brown sugar
75g porridge oats
Put all in a bowl and stir

Heat 75g butter and a tablespoon of golden syrup in a pan, pour over dry stuff and stir.
Roll it into small balls, put on a baking tray (on baking paper if you don't fancy greasing it!) leave a gap between as they spread.
Put in GM3 / 160c for about 20 minutes until golden.

smartie cookies
100g butter
110g light muscovado sugar
1 tbsp golden syrup
150g SR flour
tube of smarties
Cream butter and sugar until light.
Stir in syrup.
Add flour and mix well.
Place about 16 little balls on well greased trays and put a couple of smarties on each one.
Bake 160 fan oven/180 gas 4 for about 12 minis until just golden around edge. cool on wire rack.

Yummy- can miss out smarties and put nuts choc chips etc but smarties prove very very popular!

I can recommend robinpud's recipes. She saved my bacon with a pasta salad yesterday.

easiest biscuits in the world:
1oz sugar
2oz butter
3oz flour

cream butter & sugar, stir in flour, knead, roll out, cut out, 10min gas 4.

you can add chocolate chips/raisins/orange zest etc as the fancy takes you, or ice them afterwards
