What on earth can I do with Pak Choi? (at least I think that's what it is...)

I've also got what looks like an elongated white cabbage - is that chicory? (I'm new to this veg box thing).

Pak choi is greener - chicory is quite pale (google image search is a wonderful thing).

Riverford have lots of recipes for all sorts of veg.

I didn't know there was such a thing as pointed cabbage. It does LOOK like a cabbage but it didn't smell cabbagy when I (over) boiled it . I don't usually do stir frying - I tend to try to "make" things (overcomplicating as usual).

Just to clarify the ?pak choi and the ?chicory are two separate items. I didn't think of the image search (duh) - thanks TooTicky.

if you do id it as pak choi..... then you want to.......
chop some garlic / ginger / red chili and fry gently in light tasting oil....meanwhile cook your washed and sliced up leaves in boiling water v quickly (2 mins?).....stir generous amount of oyster sauce into the cooked garlic etc and add drained greens. serve on brown rice. v good!

Twinklemegan · 14/06/2007 23:16

OK, so the pointy thing is a pointed cabbage. Thanks KZ!

Ramen Soup

Chopped up veggies
Miso Soup base
Ramen Noodles
Pak Choi
Maybe some mushrooms/grilled chicken/prawns/whatever you fancy

Stir fry veggies and meat if you choose a meat, bring soup to boil, add noodles for a few moments, add Pak Choi for a few more moments, put in a bowl, top with hot veggies/meat.

Yes, definitely pak choi. Not sure I'm brave enough with the oyster sauce and ginger controlfreaky, but I'll bear it in mind. Thank you!

I'm glad I'm not the only vegetable ignoramous then . I grow loads of my own actually, or I used to, so I thought I was pretty good on IDing them but clearly not.
