Fat in slow cooker chicken casserole

Can anyone explain why/help me solve this issue. I’m doing a chicken casserole in my slow cooker and I’ve just gone to check on it, and the gravy has got a lot of fat/white bits floating around. I’m guessing this is something to do with the chicken? Does anyone know?

TIA

Sounds like fat and impurities - you can chill it when then these will float to the top and harden making it easy for you to skim off, put an ice-cube in which will attract them all or just skim them off with a spoon as it isn’t

Did the chicken have skin on?

I never made a decent chicken casserole/stew until I realised that you need to precook the chicken. You could use meat left from a roast or at least part--cook legs or thighs on a tray in the oven. Whenever I roast a chicken, like an M&S Oakham chicken (ie a cheap one) I have at least an inch of grease to throw away when I pour off the juices before making gravy. Not such a problem if you are only cooking breast meat.

(Have a look at Jamie Oliver Humble Chicken Stew).
