Dh found them when defrosting big chest freezer. We bought them while Christmas shopping last year in December. We couldn't find them on Christmas day. My mum was maaad.Grin
I'd hate to waste them if I don't need to. Was thinking of doing jacket spuds with prawn cocktail.

I wouldn't eat them. Recommendations are 3 - 6 months in the freezer.

It will be quality that has deteriorated but they should still be safe to eat

The texture may have gone a bit odd (they may be a bit chewy particularly if freezer-burnt) but they won't give you food poisoning, provided you follow the proper defrosting and cooking guidelines of course...I would eat them!

I would still eat them if they've been in chest freezer since fresh

As long as they look and smell OK obviously

done similar here last month.not the ebst quality but fine once in stir fry.no ill people

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/09/2018 18:43

I’d eat them.

MrsMoastyToasty · 18/09/2018 18:45

No, I wouldn't. Freezing only slows down the deterioration of food, but doesn't stop it.

I've just eaten some that were at least that old. They were very tasty.

HarrietSchulenberg · 18/09/2018 21:16

I would but I'm the woman who ate a 6 months out of date yoghurt and lived. There are contestants on CBB that are younger than some of the food in my freezer.

My freezer is a magical time machine.
Anything that goes in there is good forever.

I'd put them in a stew or something where they'd cook for a long time and texture is less important, but then we regularly eat meat that's a decade old at the ILs from their freezer. MIL's such a bad cook it makes little difference...
