baked beans is a fab finger food
scrambled eggs, or omlette
malty wheat thingies with a bit of milk so they don't get too soggy
fruit

shreddies. go soggy but don't really fall apart

weetabix minis if you are lackadaisical about nuts like me (or maybe in a month or two)

quite stiff porridge (they just eat it with their hands)

my dd refused any help with food from 7 months so we just slapped everything on a highchair tray and she'd shovel it in some how

lulumama · 05/06/2007 22:47

crumpets, potato cakes and different types of bread ,toasted and cut into fingers

scrambled egg is defintiely a good one

dry cereal

cut up fruit

PrincessPeaNips · 05/06/2007 22:49

toast and marmite

wierdos

mumzarello · 05/06/2007 23:06

Aren't baked beans quite salty?

ChasingSquirrels · 05/06/2007 23:09

yes they are salty, you can get low salt ones if this bothers you, but I'm not suggesting she has beans every day (must remind ds2 that he can't have beans EVERY day!)

hana · 05/06/2007 23:09

mashed up fruit spread onto thin strips of toast, my 8 month old loves this

Caroline1852 · 05/06/2007 23:55

wedges of boiled egg, sliced peeled apple, pieces of croissant, watermelon, sliced oranges, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, raisins, prunes, slices of mozarella

Clary · 06/06/2007 00:18

Ahh everything was finger food in this house.

Dry cereal with milk in a cup on the side.
Fruit - banana, satsuma, strawberries, halved grapes
Crumpets
croissants
muffins those ones you toast
Cheese
Tomatoes
slices of hard boiled egg (a bit early for this tho??

kiskidee · 06/06/2007 00:20

gloopy porridge.

NoBiggy · 06/06/2007 00:22

Those tiny shredded wheat with apricot inside, just sat in a tiny splash of milk so they're soft underneath, but dry on top and keep their shape (it's not complicated really!).

Go down a treat in this house.

twolittleducks · 06/06/2007 11:06

Thanks for all the ideas, dont know why i never thought of shredded wheat, they've got nothing on them as well!!!

Clary- if i buy croissants, i will end up eating them all myself

those cereals with holes in - hooplas or cheerios - are perfect finger food.

belgo · 06/06/2007 11:09

without the milk I mean!

Clary · 06/06/2007 23:41

twolittleducks lol yes I have that problem too.

Except my DCs are now big enough to come up and grab/demand what I'm eating! (does this ever stop?)

DrippingLizzie · 07/06/2007 00:23

Mini bagels from Sainsbury's (with jam, honey, whatever). Perfect for little 'uns to grab hold of.
