What is solid vegetable shortening?

I am going to make lemon pastry tonight or tomorrow (recipe from Lieth's cookery bible) and in the recipe one of the ingredients is 30g solid vegetable shortening. Can anyone describe what this is to me (I have no idea) as I'm in France so will need to be able to describe it well to have any chance of finding it. Or if it is sth you make yourself can someone tell me how to make it?

It's kind of like Lard only vegetable based!

It's basically hydrogenated vegetable fat. Tomor is a kosher lard-substitute which would be suitable.

make sure it is fully hydrogenated... partially hydrogenated is VERY VERY bad!

Tomor, Trex and White Flora also look like lard. Trex has a higher fat content than butter (nearly 100%, whereas butter has about 85%), but I think some of the other brands may have different proportions of fat to water etc, I don't think they are all 100%. I don't know what proportion of lard is fat - though the precise fat content may not matter in some recipes.
